Arlene Bishop has managed to create a tiny stir at home and abroad. A constant on national public radio in the US, CBC in Canada and university stations around the world Arlene is liked by clever and good looking people.

Embraced by audiences for her quirky, "anything but the typical" live shows, Arlene challenged herself to write a new song and present it publicly each week. Trying out melodies, and making up bits of strange stories and disjointed narratives, the birthing process for Cut a Manšs Heart Out was conducted in front of a live audience.

As the title indicates, the eleven songs of SNARKY GIRLPOP (released in 2000) are dark and biting but delivered in a melodic pop package. You may recognize 98 Points from feature films New Waterford Girls and Say Nothing.

This six song EP was released in 1996. While many more songs had been recorded, she and producer Blair Packham decided to hold back some of the earliest songs. "I wanted a small introduction," says Bishop "I just wanted to make a good first impression". A good impression is exactly what she made, with the first track Spin Another One ending up in an HBO film called First Degree starring Rob Lowe. The record also earned her a plethora of compliments including from one of the world's most respected guitarist-turned-album-mogul Wil Ackerman.
